Karel Gott (born 14 July 1939, Plzeň), is a Czech singer, and an amateur painter. He is considered the most successful male singer in the former Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, and has been voted the country's best male singer in the annual Český slavík (Czech Nightingale) national poll 41 times, most recently in 2017.

Bohumil Hrabal (28 March 1914 – 3 February 1997) was a Czech writer, regarded by many Czechs as one of the best writers of the 20th century.

Milan Kundera (born 1 April 1929) is a Czech-born French writer who went into exile in France in 1975, and became a naturalised French citizen in 1981. He "sees himself as a French writer and insists his work should be studied as French literature and classified as such in book stores".
