#40 Caraguatatuba, Brazil


Caraguatatuba, widely known by its abbreviation Caraguá, is a city in the eastern part of the southern state of São Paulo in Brazil. The name comes from the Tupi language and one of the words includestuba meaning many.  Caraguatatuba is the largest city of São Paulo north shore. The economy of the Caraguatatuba is driven by agriculture and tourism. Caraguatatuba is a jetsetter of high society of São Paulo, in the summer the city becomes one of the biggest hotspots in the country with more than 1.5 million tourists. The population in 2010 was 100.899, its density is 208.4/km² and the area is 484 km². The urban area and farmlands are within the coastline and valley areas, the majority of the northern part are heavily forested and rarely serves any roads to that area.
