Óbidos is a town (Portuguese: vila) of approximately 3100 inhabitants and municipal seat of the municipality of Óbidos, located in the Oeste Subregion, of the Estremadura Province, in Portugal.
The name "Óbidos" probably derives from the Latin term oppidum, meaning "citadel", or "fortified city".
