Bruce Lee (Chinese: 李小龍; born Lee Jun-fan, Chinese: 李振藩; November 27, 1940 – July 20, 1973) was a Hong Kong American martial artist, Hong Kong action film actor, martial arts instructor, philosopher, filmmaker and the founder of Jeet Kune Do. Lee was the son of Cantonese opera star Lee Hoi-Chuen.
He is widely considered by commentators, critics, media and other
martial artists to be one of the most influential martial artists of all
time and a pop culture icon of the 20th century. He is often credited with helping to change the way Asians were presented in American films.
Jackie Chan, SBS, MBE (born Chan Kong-sang, 陳港生; 7 April 1954) is a Hong Kong actor, martial artist, film director, producer and singer. In his movies, he is known for his acrobatic fighting style,
comic timing, use of improvised weapons and innovative stunts, which
he typically performs himself. Chan has been acting since the 1960s and
has appeared in over 150 films.
Chan has received stars on the Hong Kong Avenue of Stars and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Donald Chow Yun-fat, SBS (born May 18, 1955), commonly known as Chow Yun-fat, is a Hong Kong actor. He is best known in Asia for his collaborations with filmmaker John Woo in the heroic bloodshed genre films A Better Tomorrow, The Killer and Hard Boiled; and in the West for his roles as Li Mu-bai in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Sao Feng in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. He mainly plays in dramatic films and has won three Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actor and two Golden Horse Awards for Best Actor in Taiwan.
The Chinese white dolphin or Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin (Sousa chinensis; Chinese: 中華白海豚; pinyin: Zhōnghuá bái hǎitún) is a humpback dolphin
species. An adult is white or pink and may appear as an albino dolphin
to some. Uniquely, the population along the Chinese coast has pink skin and the pink colour originates not from a pigment, but from blood vessels which were overdeveloped for thermoregulation.
The body length is 2 to 3.5 m (6 ft 7 in to 11 ft 6 in) for adults 1 m
(3 ft 3 in) for infants. An adult weighs 150 to 230 kg (330 to 510 lb).
Chinese white dolphins live up to 40 years, as determined by the
analysis of their teeth.
The name "Hong Kong" is an approximate phonetic rendering of the pronunciation of the spoken Cantonese or Hakka name 香港, meaning "Fragrant Harbour". Before 1842, the name referred to a small inlet—now Aberdeen Harbour (香港仔 hoeng1gong2 zai2, "Little Hong Kong") - between Aberdeen Island and the south side of Hong Kong Island, which was one of the first points of contact between British sailors and local fishermen.
Bauhinia is a genus of more than 500 species of flowering plants in the subfamily Caesalpinioideae of the large flowering plant family Fabaceae, with a pantropical distribution. The genus was named after the Bauhin brothers, Swiss-French botanists.
Many species are widely planted in the tropics as orchid trees, particularly in India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and southeastern China. Other common names include mountain ebony and kachnar (India and Pakistan). In the United States of America, the trees grow in Hawaii, coastal California, Texas, Louisiana and Florida. Bauhinia ×blakeana is the floral emblem of Hong Kong - a stylized orchid tree flower appears on the Hong Kong flag and Hong Kong Airlines uses 'Bauhinia' as its radio callsign in air traffic communication.
Tsing Ma Bridge is a bridge in Hong Kong. It is the world's ninth-longest span suspension bridge and was the second longest at time of completion. The bridge was named after two of the islands at its ends, namely Tsing Yi and Ma Wan.
It has two decks and carries both road and rail traffic, which also
makes it the largest suspension bridge of this type. The bridge has a
main span of 1,377 metres (4,518 ft) and a height of 206 metres
(676 ft). The span is the largest of all bridges in the world carrying
rail traffic.
The 41-metre (135 ft) wide bridge deck carries six lanes of automobile
traffic, with three lanes in each direction. The lower level contains
two rail tracks and two sheltered carriageways, used for maintenance
access and traffic lanes when particularly severe typhoons strike Hong Kong and the bridge deck is closed to traffic.
