Tajikistan (officially the Republic of Tajikistan (TajikҶумҳурии ТоҷикистонÇumhuriji Toçikiston/Jumhuriyi TojikistonPersianجمهوری تاجیکستان‎‎; RussianРеспу́блика ТаджикистанRespublika Tadzhikistan), is a mountainous landlocked sovereign country in Central Asia. With an estimated 8 million people in 2013, it is the 98th most populous country and with an area of 143,100 km2 (55,300 sq mi), it is the 96th largest country in the world. It is bordered by Afghanistan to the south, Uzbekistan to the west, Kyrgyzstan to the north, and China to the east. Pakistan lies to the south separated by the narrow Wakhan Corridor. Traditional homelands of Tajik people included present-day Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

Avicenna (Latinate form of Ibn-Sīnā (Persianپور سینا / ابن سینا‎‎Arabicابن سینا), full name Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Sīnā (Arabic: أبو علي الحسين ابن عبد الله ابن سينا; c. 980 – June 1037) was a Persian polymath who is regarded as one of the most significant thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age. Of the 450 works he is known to have written, around 240 have survived, including 150 on philosophy and 40 on medicine.

Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī (Persianجلال‌الدین محمد رومی‎‎), also known as Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Balkhī (جلال‌الدین محمد بلخى), Mawlānā/Mevlânâ (مولانا, "our master"), Mevlevî/Mawlawī (مولوی, "my master"), and more popularly simply as Rumi (1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic. Rumi's influence transcends national borders and ethnic divisions: IraniansTajiksTurksGreeksPashtuns, other Central Asian Muslims, and the Muslims of South Asia have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy for the past seven centuries. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. Rumi has been described as the "most popular poet" and the "best selling poet" in the United States.

Emomalii Rahmon (Persianامام‌علی رحمان‎‎), (TajikЭмомалӣ Раҳмон; born 5 October 1952) is a Tajik politician who has served as Tajikistan's head of state since 1992, and as President since 1994.

Ismoil Somoni Peak (Tajik: Қуллаи Исмоили Сомонӣ, Qullai Ismoili SomonīRussian: пик Исмаила Самани pik Ismaila Samani) is the highest mountain in Tajikistan and in the former Russian Empire and later in the Soviet Union, named after Ismail Samani, the greatest ruler of the Samanid dynasty.

The Fergana Valley (alternatively Farghana or FerghanaUzbekFarg‘ona vodiysiKyrgyzФергана өрөөнү; Tajikводии ФaрғонaRussianФерганская долинаPersianوادی فرغانه‎‎) is a valley in Central Asia spread across eastern Uzbekistan, southern Kyrgyzstan and northern Tajikistan.

The Dushanbe Flagpole is a flagpole located in front of the Palace of Nations in DushanbeTajikistan. It is now only second tallest free-standing flagpole in the world, after the newly erected (170m) Jeddah Flagpole. At a height of 165 metres (541 feet), it is still higher as the 162 m (531 ft) National Flagpole in Azerbaijan, the 160 m (525 ft) Panmunjeom Flagpole of Kijŏng-dong in North Korea, and the 133 m (436 ft) Ashgabat Flagpole in Turkmenistan. The flagpole flies a 30 m × 60 m (98 ft × 197 ft) Flag of Tajikistan weighing 700 kilograms (1,540 pounds).
