Yoko Ono (小野 洋子 Ono Yōko) born February 18, 1933, is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer and peace activist. She is the widow and second wife of The Beatles' John Lennon and is also known for her work in avant-garde art, music and filmmaking.
Akira Kurosawa (Japanese: 黒澤 明 Hepburn: Kurosawa Akira, March 23, 1910 – September 6, 1998) was a Japanese film director, screenwriter, producer and editor. Regarded as one of the most important and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema, Kurosawa directed 30 films in a career spanning 57 years.
The maneki-neko (Japanese: 招き猫, literally "beckoning cat") is a common Japanese figurine (lucky charm, talisman) which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. The figurine depicts a cat (traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail) beckoning with an upright paw, and is usually displayed—often at the entrance—of shops, restaurants, pachinko
parlors, and other businesses. Some of the sculptures are electric or
battery-powered and have a slow-moving paw beckoning. The maneki-neko is sometimes also called the welcoming cat, lucky cat, money cat, happy cat, beckoning cat, or fortune cat in English.
Mount Fuji (富士山 Fujisan, IPA: [ɸɯᵝꜜdʑisaɴ]), located on Honshu Island, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft). An active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707–08, Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometres (60 mi) south-west of Tokyo,
and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally
symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped several months a year, is a
well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and
photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers. It is one of
Japan's "Three Holy Mountains" (三霊山 Sanreizan) along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku; it is a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, a Historic Site, and was added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site on June 22, 2013.
